Help the Price family

As soon as we received the request for support from one of SSgt Dennis Price's closest friends, we knew we needed to spring into action. We immediately granted his family $15,000 in order to secure lodging for them so that they can be closer to Emilia for her treatments while they make their transition to the Philadelphia area. We are additionally committing an immediate $8,000 to cover Emilia's first year of monitoring.

We have to relocate to the Philadelphia area to be in proximity of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). This is the only hospital that can treat my daughter Emilia and her severe Hyperinsulinism. In addition to this, she also has hemolytic anemia and Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome."

Emilia suffers from two rare diseases, Hyperinsulinism and Beckwith Weidemann Syndrome. BWS causes an increased risk of certain childhood cancers. Doctors have already identified 5 tumors in Emilia's liver which are monitored monthly. Emilia needs to be within emergency transport range of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for the foreseeable future. Because Hyperinsulinism is such a rare disease, most doctors and hospitals do not know how to manage it resulting in immediate air transport back to CHOP. The Price family is having to relocate from Alabama to Philadelphia, PA because they were separated for 5 months while Emilia was in the hospital and any additional hospitalization will cause more strain on their family. Emilia has additional medical expenses that are not covered by insurance as well. One of the medical devices she needs, a continuous glucose monitor, in which insurance has declined coverage for.
